Welcome In ~ Getting Involved

WSC Registrar’s Religious Preference Release    CNC Registration    Archdiocesan Young Adult Registration

Hello, young Catholic at WSC

…or someone interested in attending WSC!

Are you one of over 3,317 WSC students? …one of the 919 Catholic Students?  Are you one of the survivors who made it through those first three weeks at college?  We celebrate you!  Please read on!

Do you see what I see?

So much potential!

Wonder what God sees?!?

Did you know… We are looking for you?

YOU are the reason for all our efforts!  By just being a WSC Catholic student, you automatically are the concern of all Catholic campus and Young Adult Ministry in the Omaha Archdiocese, even if you are from another diocese!

à Consider completing the Young Adult Interview Form (.pdf file).

We began as a Catholic Club in 1892. In 1981, with the leadership of the Norfolk Missionary Benedictine Sisters and funds from the Archdiocesan Catholic School Office, we rented a room in the basement of the ELCA Welcome House.  In March 2002 we rented 1108 Walnut from WSC and moved into our temporary ‘home.’

In May 2005 we moved into a property at 317 East 10th Street purchased for the Archdiocese of Omaha through a decision of Archbishop Eldon Francis Curtiss.

NOW your presence and participation are anticipated!  We hope you find a niche in our ministry. We also hope you get involved here for faith support & challenge as well as in the many WSC student organizations for academic, social, service, and even more faith support & challenge.

FYI à WSC Annual Enrollment Fall Semester

2003 undergraduate & graduate enrollment reported was 3,317, an increase of 3.01 percent, or 97 students.

Did you know… there are MANY levels of involvement in campus ministry?

You can choose to be a college Catholic student at this state campus….

1.  By continuing to deepen your Catholic faith and practice locally, at home, or in another parish.

2.  By having a Catholic friend who is involved in CNC and relying on the friend for information.

3.  By attending services at St. Mary’s here in Wayne, completing the Young Adult (Student) Stewardship form in October, offering your ‘time-talents-gifts’ in the parish, keeping informed of campus ministry by reading Newman News in the parish weekly bulletin, and praying for our campus ministry and the needs of the Church.

Maybe you want to get deeper into the campus life commitment as a Catholic student…

4.  By taking a moment to read and understand our purpose on campus (Mission).

5.  By completing the one-time Religious Preference Release (RPR) and turning it in to the Registrar Office, you give us permission to get labels, etc.  This is VERY helpful with the ‘secretary’ work involved in this ministry.  You can do this in two ways:

a)       a)       Provide the information by completing #13 or on-line during Registration when you first enroll at WSC;

b)       b)       You can print the RPR form (link also below) and return it to the Registrar Office by mailing or dropping in

campus mail or taking it there in person.  The forms are also available at the Catholic Newman Center.

Note:  Anytime you want to be removed from this mailing, just contact the Registrar Office.

6.  By participating in at least one Catholic campus ministry sponsored event during each semester.

7.  By being leaders in other organizations and helping us identify how we can work together in this academic environment.

We invite you to contribute to the development of the WSC Catholic faith community…

8.  By completing the “official” CNC Registration, an Information Sheet (new color each year) you give us (campus minister, chaplain, student leadership) general information and ideas about what interests you.  From this we develop programs.

Info Sheet à   Front Side     Back side

9.  By attending at least one weekly event, we build community: Tues Nite, Rosary, TNT, Bible or Study Group.

Maybe you are JUST the person the Spirit sends as a leader to develop WSC Catholic campus ministry…

10.  By taking responsibility with someone or by yourself for some piece of the ministry or a program.

11.  By joining the leadership council thus strengthening the “Newman Club” as a student organization.

And after you leave WSC either as a transfer or a graduate…

12.  By remaining on our mailing list and providing prayer and “time-talent-treasure” to help sustain the ministry.

Did you know… “It only takes a spark to get a fire going…” ?

We invite you to complete the RPR below unless you gave permission by filling in the last question (# 13) on your WSC registration. We hope you stay with us, FIND a home with us, DEEPEN your faith, and CONTINUE living your Catholic Christian LIFE to the fullest.

SEE what can happen when students are involved!

“…and soon all those around can warm up to its GLOWING. That’s how it is with God’s LOVE once you’ve experienced it, you want to sing, it’s fresh like spring, you want to pass it on!”   (Cursillo Song)
